How does Express Entry work?
  • Your application will be scored using a points system if you complete an Express Entry profile.
  • You’ll be invited to apply for permanent status as a skilled immigrant if you are highly ranked.
  • Within six months of submitting your PR application will be processed.
What are The Eligibility Requirements for Express Entry?

Competent people are hired based on their abilities to contribute to the Canadian economy.

Express Entry is in charge of applications for three different immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

If you qualify for one of the above programs, you can also apply for the Provincial Nominee Program through Express Entry. If you’re nominated, you’ll receive bonus points, allowing you to be encouraged to apply sooner.

What Factors Go into Determining Express Entry Profile Points?
  • Your Express Entry profile will be scored based on the following factors: your level of education, your ability to communicate in English and/or French (Canada’s two official languages), your work experience and skills, and your age.
  • If you have got a job opportunity in Canada; and the education, language skills, and work experience of your spouse.
  • If you have finished an academic program in Canada or have a provincial nomination, you will receive additional points.
What Criteria Does Express Entry Use to Choose PR Candidates?
  • When you submit your profile, it will be added to a pool (group) of all Express Entry applicants at the time.
  • Following that, you’ll be ranked against the other pool participants. Your ranking is determined by the number of points you have.
  • Your profile will be chosen (picked) from the list of candidates if you are at the top of the rankings. As a skilled immigrant, you’ll be given an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
  • The IRCC maintains track of how many ITAs are awarded and how many points are required to receive one.
